great hotel/bad restaurant
Stayed with my wife at the Beacon for the second time in three years; as always a number one experience. Manny & the rest of the crew, including Victor, were exceptionally professional & made us feel right at home.

The Place, which is the restaurant located in the same building should probably be avoided if possible; food isn't that great & when ordering the 'fish of the day' it turned out to be a hundred dollars for two people, almost twice the price of the entrees on the menu & the fish was frozen, (advertised as fresh) & smothered with sauce. Beware of the two for one offers on the drinks. Anyway, brought up my concerns to the manager who refunded us forty dollars after some polite discussin, however, the experience left us with a somewhat sour taste in our mounths, both from the food & the rip. The wait staff is great but the restaurant leaves a little to be desired.

VIP Line Access Passes to Nightclubs
Most of the repeat guests know and many of the future guest wonder about the same thing - Beacon "VIP passes". What are they? Well, these are VIP line access passes to clubs on South Beach. Club promoters share them with us and we are happy to share them with our guests. So let me tell you a little more about this nice complimentary service.

VIP lines access passes make club entrance experience a little more bearable, both on you and your wallet. For one they do just that - grant you access to the shorter VIP line. Sometimes they may eliminate the necessity of standing in line, and once you show the pass to the doormen you can walk right in.

Some of the passes allow you complimentary entry, and some will at least offer reduced admission. One thing to keep in mind - VIP line access passes are not valid during special events and holidays.

Things that are worth considering even before you make you way to the busy street with glamorous clubs:

1. Dress to impress. No shorts and no sandals for guys. Girls, try to look your best.

2. It is always up to the doormen whether or not they will let you in. No passes and no cover can 100% guarantee entrance.

3. Oddly enough it's easier for a group of girls to get in than it is for a group of guys. Girls may get VIP table, guys may stand in line for an hour or never get in. I read somewhere that there is a trick for guys: if you pay the cover for a group of girls (providing they share the same line with you and your friends) the whole process of club entry can be smoother. I cannot confirm that with certainty because I am a girl.

4. Passes usually state that you need to enter the club before 11 pm, 12 midnight, and 1 am. Rules vary, so always check the back of your card to make sure you arrive on time.

That's it for now. If you have questions or comments please feel free to post here or share with us on Facebook: www.facebook.com/beaconsouthbeach
